How to Activate Your SIM
Activating your Simply eSIMS eSIM takes under 5 minutes and works on any carrier-unlocked device, including iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later. There are two methods: scanning a QR code (recommended) or entering the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually. You will need a stable Wi-Fi connection during installation — the eSIM profile downloads over the internet. You can install the eSIM before your trip without using any data; the plan only activates when you first connect to a local network at your destination. QR codes are single-use, so do not delete the profile once installed. If you lose access to the QR code email, contact support@simplyesims.com with your order number and we can reissue it.
How Do I Activate Using a QR Code?
This is the quickest way to install your eSIM.
- Open the email you received after purchase. It contains your QR code and activation details.
- On your device, go to Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular on iOS).
- Tap Add eSIM or Add Data Plan.
- Choose Scan QR Code and point your camera at the QR code from your email.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and install the eSIM profile.
- Once installed, you can label the plan (e.g., "Travel Data") for easy identification.
What If I Cannot Scan the QR Code?
If you cannot scan the QR code, you can enter the details manually.
- Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Add eSIM.
- Select Enter Details Manually.
- Enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your confirmation email.
- Confirm the installation and wait for the profile to download.
Do I Need Wi-Fi to Activate My eSIM?
- Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection during activation.
- Your device must be carrier-unlocked for the eSIM to work.
- You can install the eSIM before your trip — the data plan activates when you first connect to a network at your destination.
- Do not delete the eSIM profile once installed, as QR codes are single-use.
- Turn on Data Roaming in your device settings — this is required for your eSIM to connect at your destination.
