How to Activate Your SIM

Activating your Simply eSIMS eSIM takes under 5 minutes and works on any carrier-unlocked device, including iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later. There are two methods: scanning a QR code (recommended) or entering the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually. You will need a stable Wi-Fi connection during installation — the eSIM profile downloads over the internet. You can install the eSIM before your trip without using any data; the plan only activates when you first connect to a local network at your destination. QR codes are single-use, so do not delete the profile once installed. If you lose access to the QR code email, contact support@simplyesims.com with your order number and we can reissue it.

How Do I Activate Using a QR Code?

This is the quickest way to install your eSIM.

  1. Open the email you received after purchase. It contains your QR code and activation details.
  2. On your device, go to Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular on iOS).
  3. Tap Add eSIM or Add Data Plan.
  4. Choose Scan QR Code and point your camera at the QR code from your email.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and install the eSIM profile.
  6. Once installed, you can label the plan (e.g., "Travel Data") for easy identification.

What If I Cannot Scan the QR Code?

If you cannot scan the QR code, you can enter the details manually.

  1. Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Add eSIM.
  2. Select Enter Details Manually.
  3. Enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your confirmation email.
  4. Confirm the installation and wait for the profile to download.

Do I Need Wi-Fi to Activate My eSIM?

  • Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection during activation.
  • Your device must be carrier-unlocked for the eSIM to work.
  • You can install the eSIM before your trip — the data plan activates when you first connect to a network at your destination.
  • Do not delete the eSIM profile once installed, as QR codes are single-use.
  • Turn on Data Roaming in your device settings — this is required for your eSIM to connect at your destination.
