How to Activate on iOS

If you have an iPhone XS or later (or a compatible iPad), setting up your Simply eSIMS plan is quick and easy. This guide walks you through the iOS-specific steps to get your eSIM activated and ready to use.

Before You Start

  • Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 12.1 or later (iOS 16+ recommended for the best experience).
  • Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  • Confirm your device is carrier-unlocked. If unsure, contact your mobile carrier.
  • Have your eSIM QR code ready — check the email you received after purchasing.

Step-by-Step: QR Code Method

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data depending on your region).
  3. Tap Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan.
  4. Select Use QR Code.
  5. Point your camera at the QR code from your confirmation email. Your iPhone will detect it automatically.
  6. Tap Continue when prompted to add the cellular plan.
  7. Choose a label for the plan (e.g., "Travel" or "Simply eSIMS").
  8. When asked for your default line, keep your primary number as the default for calls and messages.
  9. Set the Simply eSIMS plan as your line for Cellular Data.
  10. Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching to avoid unexpected charges on your primary line.

Manual Activation on iOS

If you cannot scan the QR code (for example, if the QR code is on the same device), you can enter the details manually:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM.
  2. Tap Enter Details Manually.
  3. Type in the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your email.
  4. Tap Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

Switching Data to Your eSIM

Once installed, make sure data is routed through your eSIM: go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and select your Simply eSIMS plan. When you arrive at your destination, enable Data Roaming under the eSIM plan settings to connect.
